Google Business Profile

Show up first in the map pack.
Where fence leads actually happen.

The map pack is the top three results with the map and the pins. It's where over 60% of local fence leads originate. Ranking there is a discipline, not a trick - the right categories, the right service area, the right service list, weekly posts, steady reviews, and no missing pieces. We run all of it.

Why GBP is the single most valuable free tool in local marketing

Google gives you a listing worth tens of thousands of dollars a year. Almost no fence contractors use it right.

GBP is free to set up and free to run. What isn't free is knowing which levers move it - and consistently pulling them. Here's what we see in almost every fence contractor GBP we audit.

Wrong or missing categories

"Fence Contractor" is the primary category that matters. Missing it means missing every "fence company near me" search. Additional categories for repair, installation, and specialties expand your visibility.

Empty services list

The services list is a ranking signal AND a display feature - homeowners searching "wood fence installation" see your listing surface exactly that service when it's on your profile. Most profiles have zero services listed.

Service area either too wide or too narrow

Setting your service area to "the whole state" hurts you in every city inside it. Setting it to just your home city hurts you in neighboring cities you actually serve. It has to match reality county by county.

Zero photos or stock photos

GBP profiles with 50+ real jobsite photos rank better and convert better than profiles with 5 stock photos. Google literally counts photo activity as a ranking signal.

No Google Posts

Google Posts appear directly in your profile and are a ranking signal for freshness. Almost no fence contractors post. Weekly posts move you up over months.

Unanswered Q&A and review responses

Every unanswered question and every unresponded review is a signal to Google (and to homeowners) that the profile is neglected. Responding to every one is a weekly discipline that pays back in rankings and trust.

What we actually do

The weekly and monthly GBP work that moves you up the map pack.

  1. 01

    Profile setup or takeover

Categories, services, service area, hours, business description, attributes, and all the little checkboxes correctly filled. If your profile already exists but was set up badly, we clean it without triggering re-verification whenever possible. If verification is needed we handle it.

  2. 02

    Photo library management

Real jobsite photos uploaded regularly. Team photos. Truck photos. Before-and-afters. Every photo geo-tagged when possible. Google rewards active, high-quality photo activity with better rankings.

  3. 03

    Weekly Google Posts

Every week: an update post, an offer post, or an event post. Real content specific to your business - new job types, seasonal promos, community involvement. These show in your profile and count for freshness.

  4. 04

    Review generation via FastQuote

Every completed job triggers a review request through FastQuote one day after completion. The request goes to the right place (Google, not a third-party review site) and includes a link that opens the review form directly. This is the fastest way to grow the review count that fixes rankings.

  5. 05

    Review response management

Every review gets a response. Positive reviews get a personal thank you. Negative reviews get a professional response that shows future homeowners you handle problems well. Weekly review of the responses to keep the tone consistent.

  6. 06

    Q&A seeding and monitoring

The Q&A section is a common blind spot. We seed the most common fence homeowner questions with real answers so future homeowners find them before they even ask. We monitor for new questions and respond quickly.

What the map pack looks like when it works

Three positions, three levers, one flywheel.

Position

Where you rank in the map pack

  • Position 1: gets ~45% of map pack clicks
  • Position 2: gets ~25%
  • Position 3: gets ~14%
  • Below the fold: everyone else fights for the rest

The gap between position 1 and position 3 is a 3x difference in leads. That's why the weekly work matters.

Flywheel

The three levers that reinforce each other

  • Reviews: total count and monthly velocity
  • Proximity: how close the searcher is to your location or service area
  • Relevance: categories, services, and content signals

Fix all three at once and rankings compound. Fix only one and rankings plateau.

Questions we get

The things fence owners ask before we start.

How long does it take to see the map pack move?

First improvements usually show up 30-45 days after full profile cleanup. Real map pack ranking movement takes a full quarter of consistent work - reviews, posts, photos, Q&A - to compound. Anyone promising overnight results is either lucky or lying.

Do you have access to my GBP or do I?

Both. Your account owns the profile. We get a manager role, which lets us update everything without owning the asset. If we ever part ways, our access is removed instantly and the profile stays 100% yours.

What if my GBP is suspended?

Suspensions are handled case by case. Most are recoverable through the correct appeal process, but not all. If it's suspended when you come to us, we assess and give you a straight answer on reinstatement odds before anyone commits money to it.

Can we run multiple GBPs for different service areas?

Only if you have separate physical locations in each area. Google explicitly bans "keyword-stuffed" profile duplicates or profiles at addresses you don't actually work from. This is where a lot of contractors get themselves suspended - we don't play that game.

What about the Google Guaranteed badge?

Google Guaranteed comes with Local Services Ads (LSA). We set it up as part of the ads work. It requires a background check and business verification. Once you have it, your GBP shows the badge, which lifts click-through rates measurably.

What if I get a fake or unfair negative review?

We handle the appeal to Google. Fake reviews (never a customer, competitor sabotage) can often be removed with the right documentation. Unhappy real customer reviews cannot be removed but can be responded to professionally in a way that actually helps future homeowners trust you more, not less.
